About Carol
Carol Del Carlo, a dedicated public servant and native Nevadan, has been an influential member of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents since her election in 2016. Re-elected in 2018 for a six-year term, she plans to run for her final four-year term in 2024. Del Carlo has held pivotal roles throughout her tenure, including chairing the Community College Committee and vice-chairing committees on Business, Finance, Facilities, Investment, Academic, Research and Student Affairs. In 2024, she is set to chair the Academic, Research and Student Affairs Committee and serve as the vice chair of the Health Science System Committee.
Her contributions extend to committees, including Audit, Compliance, Title IX, Security, Cultural Diversity, and Athletics, and leading search committees for critical educational leadership positions. In 2023, she was appointed to the Higher Education Funding Formula ad hoc committee, tasked with revising Nevada's decade-old higher education funding formula.
Born and raised in Reno with deep-rooted Italian and Hispanic heritage, Del Carlo values education deeply, a legacy of her first-generation American parents. Despite disruptions to her initial educational path, she earned an Associate of Arts in Fashion Trades, a magna cum laude Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from Chapman College. Her diverse career includes a 21-year tenure with General Motors Service Parts Operations, encompassing management, labor relations, and sales roles.
Beyond her professional achievements, Del Carlo is known for her active involvement in political volunteering and non-profit organizations, driven by her love for people, politics, Nevada, and a commitment to serving students.
